Welcome to episode nineteen of the NASCAR hot spot podcast. I'm her host, Troy Journe by, Chris Kaden and Nick and this week we have a special guest driver of the twenty four Schareful, a Silverado, Raphael lassard. Yeah, how we're good and we good. How are you? And we're good. I'm good too. So we're going to have a lot of questions. I'm not gonna Laugh, Branham, good amount of questions for Rafael here and he's going to tell us a lot about himself. So this first I'm good with whatever, whatever we want to go in here. Yeah, Christ, I'll sorry. All right, all right. So, well, sorry, can do camera. I'm all laid up because I got too tree last week. So the first question I have is what was the big factor growing up they got you into auto racing? Was it watching Nascar or another sport of some kind? I would say what dumb into racing is mostly my my dad, my family. My Dad was racing just for fun. He races all life. Actually, every summer will go out to the racetrack and watch people race, watch him raise my own Cole used to race, so it's a family thing. My Dad on the trucking company and we always I was always around the the big trucks driving with my dad. Started driving those at nine years old in the yard by myself. So it just was part of our, part of WHO. I was driving whatever I could put my hands on, like snowmobile, four wheeler cars, whatever I could that that would go fast. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, that's a that's a great thing that you mentioned. Someone bills and you know other smaller or throating vehicles like that. So then another one I wanted to ask was seen that you're from a small town in Canada. What message does it sent to kids out in those small towns in rural areas, showing that someone lung young like yourself can get up to the bigger rinks of auto racing these days? I mean you just gotta believe yourself. I mean, if you believe in it, I feel like you can achieve it. You just gotta push real hards around yourself by good people, and you know, racing is a expenser sports, so you got to have the partners and the people around you that are waiting to help you move up to those rank A. I'm lucky enough that the last few years I've had some good people around me. I can act and Group of investor that I've believe in me since a beginning. My parents done it up for me. So it's always been a really cold coming, especially being one of the only French Canadian from Quebec that is in the NASCAR right now. So it's cool and it's different, that's for sure. I never I haven't grew up like the people I race against, like irrison burden. They all grew up here and they always been in a racing family. Their Dad's been driving in NASCAR forever. Same thing with Thud Jyllan. So it's a little bit different coming from Quebec, actually coming from Quebec, where the most popular sport is usually hockey. Yeah, we got we got Niki Kat and there world from Camden. I'm from Michigan, so we definitely understand the hockey first mentality of sports up here. So I'll save my last one and then try yours actually is really good for what you mentioned about Harrison and Gilwan.

In terms of the younger guys, do you have any like friends on track that like you trust a lot, like race you clean and rec you with respect pretty much all the time whenever you're with them. I mean it's hard felt because we're all going for it as long as we can. And I would say my teammate obviously shot and created this is a channel MP end and he's actually a really good guy. He's one of those guys that is always wide open. So I'm not sure if he if I'm in his ways, probably gonna move me if you're ask but that's all. I bet right, I'll do the same. You know, you always say you don't want to ring nobody buddy. If you gotta make your way up through there and you gotta move someone, it's part of racing. It it like rubbing is racing. So there's always people that you trust more because you know they have experience and they they have your respect. But I was mostly like teammates. You always don't want to hurt your teammate anyway you anywhere you go, you always want to make sure you don't you don't destroy your teammates day, but it happens. It can happens, and I would say you as a driver, the first thing you want to do is win and be a faster than the guy in front of you and has a guy in front of you. So sometime it can get eat it up, but it's part of racing. Yeah. So I have another question. Is there like a big difference in like maybe like being on track or like the environment on track from Racing Canada to racing in America? Yeah, yes and no. I would say it's pretty much the same thing, I think, because in Canada the people that are in the stand watching their racing fans and they love racing, and in the America is the same thing. In the US is that people that are there it's because they love the sport. So they I would say it's it's usually the same thing. But obviously racing is bigger down in United States than it is in Canada and there's more people in your United States. So I would say it's a it's once you see it and you know what how big it is and your state, it's it's pretty cool to see it, because sometime you you think, I thought growing up that racing was really big in Canada, but when I came down here I realized that it. Oh there, there's something else down there. It's a lot of fun. I mean you especially in North Carolina, where I'm living now, in Mooresville. It's all about racing here, so it's pretty cool. Yeah, that's really cool. Um, we all know the two thousand and twenty one season is insane for both shot explanity an cup. So whish raced, you have circled as a race that you think it's going to be a threat, that you think you can win, hopefully all of them. I mean it's it's always you always want to be out front every race. There I was SI mostly the new racetrack we're going out. I think a lot of it puts everyone on the same, same spots. Everyone, everybody is equal, because it's all neute for everybody. So I mean that's always where I want to shine and I think I can. I can do really good, because even the guys that have ton of experience, some of them are never been to those places. So it's always those places that I would like to be really good at. But mostly if I look at short track, I love Bristol. Bristol is...

...always been one of my favorite. Martinsville was wasn't my favorite at all, but last year almost one the thing, so it became one of my kind of favorite place. Not Favor it, but one of the plays that I like and I think I'm going to enjoy this year. Road course. That on a road course was one of the one that I circle in my calendar, but it didn't go as plan at the end of the race, obviously, but we showed that up of speed. That's important. Watkins man is going to be, I think, awesome. CODA circuit of America is going to be a place where it should be a very fast and a very tricky place and side that the dirt. The dirt is going to be pretty awesome. I'm excited for that because nobody knows what to expect, especially at Bristol. There's a lot of places that I think we're going to perform well. We obviously want to perform well everywhere. Darlington was my first time last year there and I felt like I learned a lot and add good speed and going back there I think we should be even faster with GMS. So that should be exciting. Nick, do you want me to see the dirt question? Are you going to do that one? You can go ahead. Okay, you can do so. With the addition of wrist older and Knoxville to the schedule and the removal of eldor what are your opinions on that and do you think you can win that? I mean I don't have that much experience on dirt. GM has got up some lap out of what was the name of the place? Not Out of a dirt track in North Carolina. They made us run some. It's kind of the UMP modify but with crate engine so it's slower, but it's got us some good seat times. I was enough fun. So I'm not sure what they expect going there, but I'm sure maybe driving the snow my whole life it might help me. Or that dirt, dirt race. But we're just gonna go out there with no expectation and try to do our best and I'm sure my teammates, Sheldon creed, is going to be really, really good. He's got some experience with dolls, trophy trucks and all that stuff. He's got a micro sprint that you runs on dirt, so you should be a I want to watch us for sure, and wanted to learn from but I'll just do my best and I'm sure we'll be able to be out front at some point. Obviously, before we're talking about being from Quebec, be from Canada. You don't see many Kadians in NASKS. I just wanted to know what it's like being able to represent a whole country like that. All right, it's been very cool. I mean I try to do my best represent the Canada as well as possible, but I also don't want to be known as the Canadian. I want to be known as a good race car driver and one that can compete for wins every week, and it's just that's my goal. But it's also it's been a kind of ARD for us because of the money exchange. It's been a it's a Canadian money. It's not worth as much right now as a United States so it's been a it's been tough for my partners and all the people that helped me in my career, but I'm glad I can represent Kata as well as I can and just hopefully we can want to bring a championship back to Canada. Also, I was wondering just about the switch from Toyota to Chevrolet, because obviously switch teams which manufacturers. How smooth has that transition been so far? It's been good. I mean I've been really excited. GMS been really great to miss so far. They're like a big family. I feel like the Chevist of Rado last year was we're really good. They they're...

...on a good momentum and this year the first two races we had the speed to run up front. We had the speed to win. It just came up short. Sometime. Got Caught up at the town of super speed away in a wreck and then the road course someone spin out, spun out and hit me in the laft roar and then it cut my left retire twice and then it hurt us. But with the speed we showed during the the first two state stage of each race, we're seventh in the championship. So it's really good and it's been the most fun and the most benefits for me has been to work with Josh wise and the driver edge I, but on my program with the drivers like a sheldon and everybody in the GMS Program are all working with Josh Wise and there's Cup driver that work with him and he's been a huge help working on my driving and all getting used to new stuff, spending a lot of time on the same going to karting every week. That's been a huge help and I'm just so really excited to be part of that and seeing some good the hopefully we can do even better and better as their season goals on. Oh Yeah, so my last that I have at the moment. I don't know if anyone else will ever you afterwards. It's a similar to mix, and you mentioned it about being with GMS is here. What's up? Your biggest takeaway from switching from KBM TO GMS? I mean, KBM was one of the is one of the top team in the truck series. GMS is the same way. They all they're both really great team and they all build their own chassis, they build their own trucks. GMS is actually a little bit bigger than the KBM if you look at it. And one word, because they got five trucks full time, one art or car and they have the program with drive, the driver edge development. That's been a huge out but like last year, everything was new for me. I didn't have a lot of experience. My first mile and a half for super speed boy race. We're all last year and there was a lot of new no practice, no qualifier. So KBM and Car Bush has done a lot of good thing for me in the past. To Yoda has been a huge help in my career but this sever we just needed the change, just needed to go try to something different and see I'll we do. And GMS so far has been a great ALP and really get a great opportunity for me and I'm going to make the most out of it. I'm going to try to make the most out of it. But so far I I like both places. GBM was kind of I've been there in super a model in truck series, and so I knew everybody in the shop and there was a it was a they will all friends for me and family. And now switch to GMS. Everything is new, but I still seen those guys before and talk to them. My crew chief, Chat Walters, I knew that. Knew him a little bit from seeing him at the track, but now that I'm working with him that everything is new. But it's been a it's been really good and I think the adaptation's been there quick which is good. Oh yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, yeah, you see a lot of times are guys will struggle or maybe a progress as well with changing teams, especially in change of manufacturers too. But definitely off to good start so far this season with it. You definitely had some showing runs and fortunately not quite exactly what you wanted, but hey, there's looking good out there for sure. Thanks. Thanks, sir. We'll keep on working. I mean we showed there...

...that we had speed. We just need to finish, finish it off. Yeah, anyway, I was anything. We're just talking about the lack of practice and qualifying this year. I just wanted to know if you are a fan of that or kind of give your thoughts on it, because I know it really depends on who you ask, whether they're whether they liked it or not. I mean the last year we spend a whole year with no almost like twenty one races out of twenty two, twenty three with no practice and qualify. I'm sure I last year. I needed those practice laps and those qualify. It would have helped me, that's for sure. But this year, I mean I would have lied to run more practice and more qualify, but it's part of it. I MEAN NASCAR at least we're racing. That's the goal, is to race and if we can practice, but we can, we can raise I'll take it, but practice and qualify, what happen? I think it's always better, especially like me being seventh in the championship but I actually finished twenty three and twenty six and twenty six last weekend, which is gonna put me in like fifteen play starting spot, I think. So the starting spot. I think we got enough speed to to start in the top five and we're going to have enough speech starting the top five every week. But because of Arek or something that we can before, it put us a way back there. So that's that's what kind of is not cool. We're no qualify, but we got just got to deal with it. And it's same thing for everybody. Yeah, Um, even know if really did this year's. Want to say that I was at to day, each one and when you bring the Oval Cups, you know, and I was. I was a big Fan Watch up front and it was really cool. Um. And my question is, what's their effort driver grown up that influenced you the most to become a driver? I was at first it was my dad a hundred percent, but once I started watching more and more NASCAR, it was always the Jeff Gordon, the twenty four. It was always I was a big fan of him. He was always super fast, fast in anything jumps in. So it's been the he started in the old generation cars, and every every time there was a new generation, you see some guys that can adapt to it and some that that are like that are having trouble adapting to it. And Jeff Gordon was always out front, even if it was a new generation, and at the end of his career was still winning. So that's a that's a guy. I think it was definitely one of the best I was sitting. Now that he's retired. I was a big fan of I'm still a big fan of cow Bush, Kyle Larson, Cole Bush is just that. I've worked with him and I've seen what he does and what he knows about the race cars and it's crazy. Karl Ourson is just he's he's amazing me. I mean in rumps and anything, he can race and wins and anything. You look on dirty it's third race in the superl it you won by fifteen second. It's it's crazy. Yeah, you mentioned that you're jeff worth and of course, how does it feel like driving twenty four? Of course the trucks use but like you're driving like such like an iconic number. Yeah, it's been really cool. I mean when I was looking at the number I might have I was opening for the twenty four and I was really happy and excited when I saw that because, being a Jeff Gordon Fan, the twenty four is a pretty iconic number and NASCAR.

So I hope I can represent it well in the truck series. Oh Yeah, for sure. I know. I just thought of one. Do you guys have any other ones at the moment? I don't have any. Right. You can go ahead. Yeah, all right. So if you're if you were to pick out of the winds that you do have in your career from where you first started all the way up to now, does tell it Bega to stand out or is another one far and above the bigger one? I mean that of Dago stands all, that's for sure. It was a really special to win the truck series race and it kind of prove myself that I've been on in this series. I still think I got a lot to prove. But one another win that actually it was really cool, was my first win in the United States and probably model in the drain, the Speed Week in Florida in two thousand and sixteen. I was fourteen years old. It was my first win. I was with David Gillan racing at the time. That was really special. I know I couldn't speak English show my interest was terrible, but I at least I won the race, as it was important part. You just got to finish first. U. If shoot, you just want to tell us any crazy stories or stuff like that that you've got. I think we're all out of questions. I'm we can think of right now. I got a funny one about the new smurder. The speed weeks, when I was fourteen, I was driving with David Gel racing and then the second night we got in a big reck, be short the car and then the guy at the race track that was towing my car comes at me and ask me where is your pit stall at? And I told you, he was asking me where are you from, so I said Quebec and the yeah, I looked at me like what, and my crew, my crew crew chief, was behind me and he started laughing and he was like man, you better start driving now. That's grew the awesome. Yeah, yeah, I had a couple story. Like I thought I was saying awesome my first cent of you. I thought I was saying my team was awesome, my car was awesome, but I was saying my team was handsome. My car was handsome. That's all I said. So that is great. Yeah, a lot of people were like the making. Joe Can still makes a joke about that, like, Oh man, you're soul and someome. Come on, you're never gonna be able to live that one day. Yeah, I was gonna stick for it. Was Pretty Funny. I mean, I had no idea what I was saying, but at least I tried. Yeah, you know what you're trying to say. At least some one thing bad. I could evennaven worse time. Yeah, I could think of a couple of different words instead of handsome when you're trying to say awesome. Yeah, yeah, I didn't say anything bad. Will make it seems like I was saying anything bad. Could have happened, just to be careful. Yeah, there you see a fourteen year old kid be like, why is he saying? I don't TV. Yeah, no, no, I know it, but I know my English better. So, yeah, you're English. Your English isn't like this, is perfectly good. Actually, yeah, I'm still trying to get better. So got stuff to learn, but when I talk about racing, I'm good. If I talk about anything else, Oh...

...man, sounds like troy yeah, talks about anything else that he doesn't know what's going on at all. It's sure, I can't even do basic English. Yeah, I'm the same one in French. I'm not. I'm not that gonna my French classes in school were not my my best. I'm I can tell you that. Yeah, you guys have anything else for him? I just want to say one thing that stock out to be was I don't want to be known as the Canadian. I want to be known as a champion. All that was. That was actually, that's a what a title. You should we got a sins that you use that. Yeah, next time you were you got to use that. Yeah, that's a pretty good one. I mean, it's it's actually, it's true. That's that's what I want. I mean, I want to only know that's there, the only Canadian out there. I want to be known as one of the best out there. But I mean it would be awesome to be the first Canadian to win a championship in the in the truck series. That's a hundred percent sure, but well, work on it. Maybe this year. Yeah. Yeah, so far, so far pretty good. Yeah, yeah, really, this season started off and saying you don't have the finishes to show up, but everyone knows you're always contending for the win. Both races you were. Yeah, yeah, it was. We had to speed and I thought I feel really good because I think we got way more speed than I had last year, which is really good. So I got some stuff to learn, especially on mile and a half like the next one vegas, but it's still different than short tracks or anything we do. So well, we'll see. Hopefully we got a good trucks and we can run off. Yeah, just going to survive the carnage of the trick series, because you guys get wild sometimes. I matter what Jack Yea. Yeah, why, very wide bow and am. You guys are still find each other. Yeah, I mean this this weekend I needed green flag lap to come back to the field and all we had this caution. It was hard to watch my go liars, wasn't. Yeah, it was. It was hard to be in the trucks during. Yeah, for sure. So, like, how was it racing the rain? Like, are you used to it? I was. It was my first bime ever racing the rain. I was your first time. You were actually you're we're wheel man out there. Yeah, we did well when we won the second stage. It was still pretty wet in the Endfield, like really wet, but it was dry health in the banking. But it's just it was. It was crazy. I mean there was I could have done a better job, but I wanted to play it safe and and keep the trucking on the racetrack because if you get off the race track you see so many cars get stuck or get the flitter rip off. So it just you just gotta add to be careful. And there was definitely more grip with the rein tired than I expected it to be, especially on their breaking but like on exit and middle of the corner you're on ice. It was it almost reminded me of driving the snow, like I said earlier. It's just it was no grip at all. Yeah, I know German in the snow is like it's never any fun. Yeah, yeah, if you got good, good tires, it's not bad. Or big trucks something like that, four wheel drive, but if you're in a small car or only real world drive, it's who dust, noise. Can I streak it? Yeah, yeah, I've almost said that happened a couple times this winter.

Yeah, it's always it's always a challenge. I always trick it out of it as a challenge driving the snow. That's why I grew up doing and it was I love it. I love it. It's a child. You get keep it straight and keep your speed up, don't. You don't want to go through your fathom over. You don't tell no about yeah, I'm you know, all right, but uh, are, we are, we are, we are. We fully out now for reason, think we're take that shout out your social medias and this and that, where people can find you. Yeah, Daddy, awesome. People can find me on Raphael. That start on facebook, instagram, twitter, Raphael. That's are racingcom. You can if they want to. We got some new march that just came out. People can order on my website, so that's really cool. I know people were asking if we had any merch available and tshirts and stuff, but now we got some. So that was pretty exciting to have. But I know there's enough people that have bought some so far. So fully we can sell some more and they get some new stuff really soon. For sure some stuff. Yeah, I'll have to get some stuff. I'll get the team as had looking really good right now. Can I will wear that most sport and so, yeah, I'll think a selfie with you the order opens out. Definitely go to most work, that's for sure. Yeah, how so hope we go to my sport. Last year we didn't get to go with I hope this year. That was pretty sad. I was looking forward to going, I guess. I mean obviously it's good racing almost every year home track. Yeah, it's after it is place. My first time there was pretty good, but that track is it's weird. There's some weird corners, that's for sure. You can't even see where you're going. Yeah, yeah, I'm that down the downhill. Yeah, that looks hard. It's a cool place. I mean hopefully. I think it's the last road course we're during this year, so we should have experience from walkins then and scold out of America. For sure. We'll definitely awesome having you on with us to definitely had some good last room, some of them says, some of the SI told us. Yeah, it's awesome. Thank you. Thanks so much for like join yourself. Yeah, thanks. Thank you, guys, and I gotta go through some stuff, but thanks for having me on your show. Yeah, thank you for yeah, a good luck. Oh, that was awesome. Yeah, but hopefully we can get a checker flag on Vegas. Yeah, well, you definitely going to breakthrough soon. I see it coming. Yeah, I'll work on it. Yeah, all right, so you guys. Thank you. Yeah, thank you. Thank you so sweet. Yeah, that was want to be known as the Canadian. I want to be known as the champion. All that's are we doing? The just like weekend doing what'll be? I was like to really do thirty minutes or something like that. So I was got a lot of those about thirty minutes. This is going to be a hard episode of beat. Yeah, the craziness and the hat on a road course and on top of all, sorry, that was insane. Dude, that was a great having him on. That was a lot of fun to be able to do. That was just yeah, talk with them. He was definitely I'm happy that he was as opening that he as he was. Like that was great. Good gets a weekend. So what was your thoughts in a weekend? But it was really chaotic. I thought it was really good in case and saying this weekend is going to keep the dates on a road course on the schedule just because...

...of the weekend. Today yeah, bobs this weekend. I'm happy as a road course theater. That was one of the best weekends in NASCAR that we've had in a while overall by far. No, biased, a little, by, by a little to this one. Next day three series have a Toyota win the truck race. It was yeah, it was. It's literally the longest truck race in history of the truck series. So that pretty much says it. And it was raining pretty much all race and it made it really fun in the beginning when we was a the race, just a lot of pests for the lead. You know, we had good Nima check. He took the lead early and then free took the lead and stuff like that. Pretty one, ohdred so NIMA check one, stage one and it was pretty like. It's pretty quiet stage and one, I guess, besides of the rain, leg caution wise, is pretty quiet. And then lessard led the laps, last five laps in Stage two and he won stage two. Sets is second stage when the season. So that's that's really cool. He's doing really well. Yeah, we just talked about this. Yeah, stop, I wonder why. I want to what he thinks about it him how he just told us so, lap twenty four, Nima Check has a mechanical issue or something. I forget what happened exactly. Right out of gas I go. Yeah, had let Rasus about. They said he ran out again power. Yeah, okay. Yeah, so there's a caution because he was stopped the track, but he got back going eventually and economy and everything. Yeah, he rebounded really well. But yeah, what did you finish? Like? Your third, third, yeah, third, yeah, so I love to races, for sure. And then, you know, it was like it was like kind of quiet. That Ryan Schures and who's the fourty two, whost of OAR? They got together. Yeah, may it's got teammates Um them. And then on lap thirty eight was one of the bigger crashes between moffit. Is it a one? Oh, that guy like chase parker. Chase Parker cheas days a road Cui Zinesman. Yeah, Oh, he did really get in the beginning there, like he started like big pack and he got into the top ten. So, yeah, I bought the race was the race was good until like the last few ngs of those called yact painful. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't Albu the track takes what like to three minutes. He at around under caution. That's just one lab it's it's tedious just to say that are like fifty five or from like that. So it's almost it's quote. It's closer to four minutes by the time they actually around. Yeah, a long time. Yeah, and then that forty three we had a caution a channer gray and Sam there. And then lap forty six, after one lap we had a caution between austinween stuff and Todd Gillwand and then they go by another restart and then there's a caution for Jennifer Joe Cobb being stopped in track, in the Infield, I believe. And then we have our grew. I charged to finish the race and I think it was a team of Ben Rhodes and Sheldon creed and I think, I believe freed was leading actually and roads passed among the restart around the time of the restore and I was moving to racto much and roads and backed back on...

...the Daytona at Daytona pretty much. Yeah, cause came out on the last. Laugh for WHO's the forty four Wild Jet Nolan? Yeah, he was as stopped from the front stretch. So there's should we mentioned how Ben Rhoads was like super close to winning but NASCAR threw out the caution for whatever reason. Now it rose. The man was less than the strugglenks from the start. Finishes and they were calmost there and they throw the caution. I guess I was ridiculous. I mean, it's fine because he still ended up winning, but like it's still kind of sucks. Yeah, if you got to throw the caution, you gotta throw the caution, but I feel like at that point you guys have to light it slide. He was like so close and like how many that we already gotten a couple couple of restarts in overtime. At that point I feel like the should just like yeah, there's things. Was the third. There was three. It worked out well. That roads one anyway, because if he didn't, there were been a lot more controversies around in that call. Yeah, you know, I know that notable finishes. John on any which I found, bounce back to finish there. That's not bad. Todd Gillen forth, he was quiet all night. I we didn't. I don't think we heard much of him. Did we know he kind of just minded. was already quiet at Daytona to until he got caught off. He was used involved in one of the cautions. So he re bull so Riley hurt? Yeah, Riley Herbs was actually, I think he whose was for a tiny bill, wasn't he? Let One? That was up fun for like all race. Okay, he is in front of open. I mean like up front, I mean like leading waiting. Yeah, he only left. Only led one laughs, but hey, good performance. Craft and six, Derek Kress. She was running like twenty of all race. Bounce back to finish seventh. Kask Ralla, Timmy, hell nine. This should have bounce. Never cast for Alla. Yeah, the man's in a one off short start for what was hurt? who was in a while? Yeah, I was young. Yeah, it's young to here in top ten. All rights. He's almost top five. I think top five. Some other drivers. Stewart freeze and barely misses carson host of are pretty sure he was involved in a wreck, wasn't he? Yeah, it was in a rex. Not So. Yeah, our boy less are twenty six. He ran top five pretty much the whole race until he got damage. Yeah, well, yeah, explaining it was really it wasn't his fault, but there was a couple wrecks. There was who was that that Zane Smith would wreck out. So it's Spencer Boyd, Jason White's Sam Mayor. I'm pretty sure that's it. Yes, and mayor. That one was kind of said to see. But also I've never really no, he didn't win Urcaus road course last year. No, he wasn't. He was eligible to run that, I think, but I don't watch my I don't even remember him racing it last year. But I'll ever see rose full times. He wasn't also full time because he wasn't. or in the National Orchestra. He wasn't full time because he's not even eighteen yet. Still. So so phone, I believe. Oh, yeah, yeah, it is battling with the gibsons. Yeah, and speaking of gibs that's a perfect segue into the extremities. Know, we have talked about Mont where even still have to mention. Yeah, still twenty one races left in the truck season already. After look back wids that roads, it's on top, but John Hunter, name my check, is barely behind him. He's nine points behind them in the roads. Is One both races. That's surprising. Anything in the stage. Matt Craf, the hosts of ours. Six, let's art. Seven, cody raw...

...or boss or Barba Rob I'm not sure if he's full time anyway, grown road. They say, yeah, they's going. He's the points, especially don't be in the tough fas, like we had a super speedway in a road course like it's two pretty UN Johnny Solderns, Tag Gilland and I think that's pretty much it. Corey Rope. Right, God, Super Start Batteries one hundred and eighty eight that they don't. We had to talk about the almond and cindric inside. So cindric, Cindrick lad early and then a cost came out for something and then almond would took the lead. Fluid, it's right front. There were stairs to caution for that. There is the fluid on track on lap five and laughs. Well, there was a small co Oh, yeah, Cuz thereus. So almininger took the lead in the middle of these two cautions, I remember, and he was leading and then our college came out with like three ago or something like that in a stage. So I think it was literally the one that shoot out or like to up shoot or something like that. And of course, let we all knew is against the roadringners. So cincers, cindrikers right on almoner's back bumper and he had to run coming out of the front. Cane and Cindric just well, almaningger block them, try to block them, but like once he saw that curdric was inside and he had a good enough run. I feel like they were it was too late and they pretty much hooked because, like if you look at the front view of the wreck, you saw the almondingers. We always all the way turned to the right to like get off of C Indric, but they were hooked. So Um almanager turns in the grass and get split a damage and engine all that is. Day was over. Pretty much big try but like I'll the beer in the minimum seed herbs in that accident to yeah, you try to avoid it. He just killed this car and grass is, you know, going to do the other nailing am in are in the door going through the grass. So I mean were could fall life on the Eisht Sun were on the bottom. He's like yeah, and then cedric got damage to the right front, but they cut her all off and use much modified. That actually did a lot for the car. It cooled the breaks extremely quickly because the whole like thing of the car, the whole EG front bumper of the car, the one side was open. So it was like an easy break cooling. I think that was intentional. Think cyndric cheated. They're okay anyways. So the real reason that worked out for him is because the long run, like you said, the right form break, with the right front break, good English Chris would be able to stay cool a lot longer, and same with the tire. So when guys are using up their tires. That's when he saw him absolutely march through the field and the second stage to get all the way up to wood. We get to seventh or six or something like that. Yeah, around that. But yeah, for Yes, Stage two starts twenty, say twenty five lap run. Stage two was all all Thai Gibbs. That's when gives pulled ahead by a pecent about. Yeah, he passed on Burton. It was a little bit of battle on them. I just passed him ran away with it and when he took the lead I'm like, oh, that's school. He's like he's leading his debut. You know it's not going to last one. That's me. That'd pretty way, pretty probably honestly said that I wouldn't be surprised. So in my head I'm R, well, this is school, but like there's no ease winning his debut and Moody at the forty eight stopped in turn...

...five. I was lap thirty nine. I was with what like sus to go. That was with close to go, ten to go, twenty to go? No, not twenty. I don't know. I don't know the example. That's when cindric started gaping gives because the tighters were starting to wear out. Yeah, and then there was there'd be another caution for debris, and then on lap fifty four there would be a bigger act the sixty one. Who is that's that's Stephen Lou I don't know. I really like leash a fight even like like yeah, the fifty two, the ninety two, the seventeen. That to its all pretty much back markers might no, Mike Snyder was right, and I forgot about MIAs. Neither. Yeah, that was on the restart and it was from us, like everyone struck up and there's a lot of car spinning and a couple guys wanted to join in for fun, take a ride to the grass ty gibbs would run away with it. Man and, his first career start in the infinity series, gets his win. How old is he? He's not old at all. Think eighteen at barely. Yeah. Yeah, that's a really good idea of the top three. Like there's also a yeah, yeah, there's also a wreck on the real start between Polluto all Guy Gragson a little way. Yeah, I think Jack, no, I finished for I forget you lost is in that crash, but it was some big names. Ever. Yeah, grace and starts to race three laps down. Man, it just to finally get in the top ten with like three to go and then just gets destroyed. He got it, let's he was so close. It wasn't his day. My look on like when he got wrecked down, like we were just meant to finish like thirty three, I swear. I mean he he kind of Jinks himself with his tweet earlier in the day. Yeah, they can't wait to be top ten exiting turn one on lap one. Yeah, it's like, all right, it's game the entire race until the scheduled last lap to get there and then over time he gets killed. Yeah, ty Gibbs wins. That's cool. He's first time in any of the three national series. So I think we got to watch out from I think a lot of people wrote them off as GRANDPA's money and he's not going to do anything with this and he's just gonna be another gibs car that's going to get a guaranteed ry. Well, I mean he might deserve something now. I mean he beat Austin Sandric on a road course. Yeah, no one can do that other than almonding Er. That's that's insane. Yeah, that was true. I mean I think a lot of people, yeah, like you said, wrote them off just because it's Thames kids. But I think they also needed to realize he raised would half the full arc of season. Like oh no, he missed, yeah, whatever, big tracks last year in Arco because he wasn't eighteen, and he won six races. So he ended up like fourth or fifth in the points because he just went out there and because it's dominated. Yeah, it's definitely, definitely's has still early, but like, if he could repeat what he did or even come close to it, I could see him being an exfinity as soon as next year, wouldn't I hope they don't do that. I feel like they'd be best. Could but yeah, that's only they could. They meet rushing it, but I feel like it's the most likely option that he goes to exfinity full time. If he does still you could also give him a few years before you move them up. Like it doesn't have to be the automized so to yeah, this is because I actually saw the especially a one off thing, but I saw I think cowkers to the easy to do ten race, but I saw that. I mean they do have to really confirmed beauty fours. We all know he'll do better, know excitly. No, he wont do Better Than Tie Dylan well,...

...on the rest of the season, after he's already done better than tied anyway. Yeah, he didn't wreck himself. Yeah, Austin Syndric. Second, that's prettty expected. Daniel Hemrick. Third, he was quiet all day. Yeah, he was. He was quietly really good. I mean, I swear I never we didn't. He was fighting, use, fighting for lad to some point without Gibson Century and then, yeah, he let gives buy and they pulled away. Do you like he's gonna have a quiet year? I feel like people are going to under a hammer because we saw what he did in the URCR. I think he can. I think a win, maybe one or two races. Yeah, I feel like better he's in a GIBS car. I feel like we barely got to see Hamrick last year, especially on the road courses. That seemed like every single race you did he's always having mechanical issues. Are Gone, the accident that wasn't his fault and stuff like that. So happy to see him do well because last it was tough. Yes, it is good. He's got allowed to prove this year. I feel like if he can't, if he can't make minimum round of Eight, he's you probably won't be looking too good. Yeah, he's not a you can't make the round of it, I don't think he'll be. Yeah, he's old. He's like a veteran. Practically he's thirty. Only is no wins. He's like Riley herbs. Oh wait, no, like he is. No one's across hall of the race series. Barnon Jones, fourth, Burton, Jeb Burton five, Harrison Burton six, Miguel poluno seven. That's how that's not surprise. Under raining course, guy in a junior motor sports call. Yeah, I'm just saying, yeah, but still it's cool. First race and wood eight years and like that. What was it? Two Thousand and thirteen? Two Thousand and thirteen trucks. It was in truest to I don't know about nationwide. Wasn't it the year he got like missiles into the inside wall at Daytona? He got it. He got a top tennis. So he's always like kind of funny, though. Brandon Brown eight, Justin Haley nine to you like you're on top three emotions the race. Did he not? He was quietly in the top ten. People definitely didn't respect him being in the top ten, like Jeremy Drivers, but everyone else, Jeremy Clemens ten. Other notable finishes. Maya, snyder thirteen, and then there was not much after that. Pretty years, typical SFINITY race. Same drivers finish top ten. Little Bay twenty two. What a man Justin Al are. Twenty six right, twenty seven. Yeah, decker, Natalie Decker, Natalie Decker, drill expected, Natalie dial rats. Can grasonally decker make me it one full, actually at one full ab when no incident about. Look how Natalie decker finished last and Riley herbs finished second last. Oh my God, what are yours? One wasn't really his fault, though I know. I think he's gonna do well. I think he's gonna make the championship, but it's my bold predation. If yes, cyndric clee the points. No surprise. Harrison, burden, Hammerick, Brandon around my Snyder, Jeff Burton, clements, Gibbs, tie. Gibbs is eight. Wea'te not full yeah, the same, not even worth mention. I mean last Justin Hey. He's tied with just who's the eighth full time guy? Okay, Justin Haley, and ninth is Brandon Jones. Ten is Kyle Weatherman, eleven is Joe Graft Jr and twelve is Jesse little. So we're moving to the cup serious now. Already started talking about I think the cops us. I think the cups use. Race was it was decent, not great. WHO's good, but not that I think it's going to it was. It was a lot better. So lagano didn't win, so life's good, and neither the chase. WHO. I'm kind of glad, though, that we...

...didn't get chase. I don't know. We didn't get a board finish shows likes, I think natural manufacturer caution, but we can talk about that we get there, because I have some words to say about that. But we had to wear the same sister rule. But it is technically in the rule book. I guess it is in the world up hey, if they're if they feel like they need to throw a rank caution, which I mean some, some part of like the Infield was getting wet, but they out out feeling the track was in getting wet. So I can I kind of see why they did it, but I don't think there was enough friend where it would really harm anyone. And on top of that, no one even pittage for entire so yeah, exactly. For this, all right. Also for of the decision. Different means La Gonos. I don't want stage. Yeah, just let less wrong. Cris is go going, you're rat, go on my rant, I can go on my right out. Yes, let's go. All right. Manufactured cautions, especially on road courses, do not need to be a thing as well as stages. Stage cautions and stages on road courses are the most dumb thing that has ever happened in the sport. What you ruin everything about road course racing when you throw a caution like especially one that doesn't need to be there. Kaden, I know you're hating the waiting here oring races. I think he's actually right about this, especially I don't like I think if they want to do stay racing right, they should be on the caution. They shod this. Let them keep racing. I think I would be one way defend, especially be perfect. I keep that keeps drivers on their toes to it's like so they don't go all so like they race hard for a end of a caution, but like they don't like wreck them selves in like have some weirdness because you know they're going to keep going after it. Like sample of and then any race in the in the S, in the S, if you've put the halfway point of Reciet like ten grain. So I would curtis that you like the halfway of the race. In the half always like Dar is, always like race really hard and was they hit the halfway point, they're leading and then kind of like back off and go to conservative. I think that's what you do. They just they just don't eat stages and phantom cautions, especially on road courses. The most pointless thing in ruins all momentum of road course racing in the support anyways, okay, I'm good. Now let's get up. So Stage one would end. It was pretty uneventual. There's two debris cautions. There was one on three, one on thirteen. Chase Elliott. We all expected them to run while you were right. Wins Stage one. Then ten laps after stage one started, or eight or stage two started. Eight laps. It was a wreck with Ryan Blainey Ross stain in turn six. That's the one. That's where Blainey punted chat staying into the war. Right. He even hit him. I sweating. I gaven hit him. I think that say just read clearing himself and didn't work out. Test staying justine just got loose in the Apron overcorrected and Roop the chair. I wouldn't have mentioned lanny, but they just have it on here and then that would just that would be the final restart stage too. I'm on Stage two. Winner was hamling him Hamlin. Weren't those the same two drivers? You wouldn't stage two last stage stages last year. Yeah, okay, that was pretty expected. All the different winner. Then we'd got with what how long was this race? Was this race seventy laughs? Yeah, it wouldn't be. went the schedule different. Yeah, okay. So there was twenty. There was thirteen to go. They would throw the caution for rain. It's Chris Already ranted about that. No drivers would come down Peart road and take brain entire so that's also good...

...to know. So then there would be another restart and then there would be another caution. Just three, no, literally two laps later, one lap later, it would be the number eight of Tyler Redding and Oh yeah, he's really engulfed in flame. Yeah, bad, I'm actually suppose I forgot about that. Yeah, and like twenty tewonds earlier, Le Joy own forced. She's off the track. There would be the seven, which is, Oh, look towards that, the joy. Oh yeah, that was that's where the wreck came that's why the caution came out for all that. And then there was another wreck with Elliott. where it was she did, Elliott did just throw them into the tires pushing. He was trying to he was trying to be overly aggressive, which I don't blame them for being aggressive, but he was being overly aggressive. Where you just race seems stupidly aggressive. You know. I was about to say too is so quietly good all day, like that man was the nicest. Shakes it because he just died. Old Team an for a second. Hilarious. I saw him. I started going right and I'm just like what is he gonna do here? And he just sends it rated doesn't even make contact with the Lagana goes right, pass from right into the wall. Yeah, and then Kur went through the grass. I forgot about that too, and then those earlier. This kind of strewed up her. I'm not saying Kurt would have caught Lagana, but I kind of screwed him up, because it's credit Chri up and everyone behind them. My God, like pulled away to the still finish like four, but I think those cars better anyway. Yeah, coming to the white flag, we're gonna was leading. We gonna had like a two, three second lead. No, not with one going to the water. Yeah, I think. I think it was around three and a half. And then with with three to go and then two to goes down to l two point two and then buy with the yeah, it was like a second and a half. Bell made a move. He got to that's we're not. I kept trying to force them into the wall. Bell got finally not really I don't know. I mean that bell would back out, which I mean, I don't blame them. He was very soon full and like try to send him in. Yeah, I'm not saying here. I'm not saying he's trying to put him into the wall. I mean you just said that said he was started run on the track. No, he just said he we started to put how is he in Ara when the walls are we are we okay? Then battles got through outside between Kadian and train. Today went around them. Christopher Belle first career with ha ha. Yeah, yeah, I know conestly out of Caden's way to overcomf that, but it's Christopher Bell Championship, which, yeah, he's gonna win it. I'm wait until he chokes because he tries too hard at one race. I wouldn't because there's not expected to win. For me, a choke as if like you're a head by a lot or you like a big favorite. Yeah, it's Christian Bal would win with a one of his his probably worst scheme of the scheme that have been revealed. Look, I'll second, third, Hamlin, fourth, cur after probably the most eventful day in the girl in any lad he was read definitely had the most eventful better. Kurt had a more than Kurd at it. More literally went bread. Pretty did Brad go straight through to grass and not get killed by the splitter? Go for twenty seven all the way by strategy up to the top five and then block his way was further back for yeah, you're forgetting that currect one read at one point. Yeah, while they were from the bread. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Brad Spun. Yeah, bread spun twice, but still like her head speed and he like he was back to front, back to front. The Brad was like back, back, back and then like he's strategy by staying on old tires and the end to...

...get to the front and get a top ten, top five class. He Finish Fish. We all know that. Oh, wait, or rick. Yeah, waite, pause. Do you remember when Chris sent the thing to the group? Chat about Harvard in the top they'll gotta talk about the harvest. We don't get a top ten this harby top ten the like we've been getting a talk. Tally run like the cleanest and quietest race you could ever run. He literally was involved like he was everyone like that. It was involved in like a body nothing and kind of like ran by himself in entire time is better than what he did last year and in the clock clash. That's why I wrote him Bom so hard. Um, Michael McDowell or no, Aj almonding or seven good race form. You raise pretty good. He was top five until you speeding penalty and then, yeah, he was down in like thirty something. And Way Michael McDowell, the defending a ton of five hundred champion ace started off on a race the worst way possible of getting nice. There's so much hyper in the PACEIPS. He was like Michael McDowell starting second and then just start the rice. These heels turn is controller disconnective. Broink, I'm not like. I know, I think I haven't seen a ton about mcdell, but I feel like if there are people saying like they're so surprised, I don't know. I'm not that surprised. He's always been good on super spedio than these courses, so he's been decent on road courses. Yeah, well, here, I don't know this was. It wasn't a word ringer. McDowell normally runs road courses like Harvard did this weekend, where you just forget he's there and then gets it because until done, but he can hear an. Okay, it's great. That's so boys. Get it. and Christ Um, well, UM, okay, yeah, this too, I got it just all right. Okay, there we go. Okay, so points, Christopher Bell and Michael McDowell. There one too. You have Danny third. He leads actual points, but without the wind he does. He's not there. Then you have Joey Harvic, Elliott, Ryan Pree, seventh priest. Isn't full time though, right. He's on doing part time. Now he's full time. It's gold. He just as of a charter. That's funny. Wasn't working. No, but I thought they said they're going back. Oh shoot, that's right. They weren't completely sure because the sponsorship. Yeah, maybe he's seventh and points right now. I feel like at this point it would be worth but we'll see what they do. Kurt Bush Eight, Austin Dylan Nine, always tied with Brad for mind actually, then cold custer eleventh, Kyle Arson, twelve, bubba thirteen, to rects fourteen, and then send house aler joy time for furteen. Pretty interesting. You Have Blaney and Bush outside of the bubble right now, but I mean it's still early so early that the points don't even matter that much. Yeah, all right, I want new KA. Now. I thought this week was Miami. This Week is Miami speaking, so we're going to sorry, this is a medical order. So, oh no, how do we do it? Last week we did it. We're just doing Christ first. So let the last week we did it worst of first. So this week again we'll do it that way. So first will be troy, right, think doing our or Kirk, because curtis momentum. Any Meni Money Mo catch a tiger bucks, so if it hows, let him go. Any me. My mother says one, take the very best one, and you are red, white, m blue. I choose you, Kevin Know, and I can hurt Bush. I pick her Bush for the all right. So then it would be Kaden next. I'm taking that. Yeah, I don't think this is a no brainer. I think this is a no brainer. I mean, he want to hear you got a good line up. The rest. I got our good lineup and I'm still waters. What...

...can I do? Who We have or who I have? No nakers. Had the highest finished between him and I. Yeah, I was finished last week's you can go. Yeah, all right. So then I'll go with Newman. Yeah, I'll go with Newman. I don't trust the other child, but Jones was Chom so far. I guess I'll go to Benedetto. I mean I'm saving Cueslaski for Vegas and Swearz his trash at all. Three. So go to Venedetto. All run. Well, that's fantasy. Yeah, we got to do predictions that last week. Did we remember that? All right, so we're just we just do cooke. Great, yeah, yeah, all right. Let's go first. Um, I'll go first. I think my prediction is going to be the driver I take in fantasy. I think Daddy Hamm will go back back on Miami. I mean he won their last year. He's always get on Miami. So, I mean I don't think there's a reason not to choose them. I'm gonna go next. I think Kevin Harvrik went. I think he got. I'm going to say, Um, you had kurt. No, I'm like, I'm saying, who don't have my mind? She's sale. Is gonna Jesus Crazy. Getting so said he's gonna he's gonna wait redemption from last year. I need doesn't have the gun out. Well, I'M gonna go with the guy that's always said that he holds back whenever they raised up Miami because he was never in the final four and he's going to get his first win in the five. Mr Kyle arson is going to win his first race at Hendrick Moist Open. It's not gonna way. I don't think so. I don't think Layne, you're just a No. I don't think wait until you until he wins, and then you won't be talking at all. So do it. One last thank you to our faeli sort taking his time out of his day to come on talk to US answer all of our questions. He was really fun to talk to. You definitely had a lot of personality. Was One heaven a month. It was good. He was definitely that was about fun. If he's down, we can have the money again. But yeah, for sure. Yeah, that's like next season, after he wins. Yeah, after a championship. Yeah, firstamp, hopefully, for sure. So that'll do do it with episode. Don't forget to follow me.
